Your income is trickling up

with one comment

Income changes since 2000

We may debate the causes of these trends, but the trends themselves are pretty clear. One would think that most Americans would find our economic direction—the poorest losing the most money and power, the richest gaining the most money and power—troubling. One would expect the church would rise up and call for justice.

But, perhaps for fear of drifting toward the hideous left (everyone knows that would plunge us into heathen ruin, or Dr. Dobson would be for it), the church will mostly sleep on, lost in the dream that if the rich get just a little richer, wealth will trickle down on us all. Except those who don’t deserve it, of course.

With a tip of the hat to Imitatio Christi and AlterNet.
