Mark 11:1-11
Entering Jerusalem on a Colt
1When they were nearing Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany on Mount Olives, he sent off two of the disciples with instructions: 2″Go to the village across from you. As soon as you enter, you’ll find a colt tethered, one that has never yet been ridden. Untie it and bring it. 3If anyone asks, “What are you doing?’ say, “The Master needs him, and will return him right away.'”

4They went and found a colt tied to a door at the street corner and untied it. 5Some of those standing there said, “What are you doing untying that colt?” 6The disciples replied exactly as Jesus had instructed them, and the people let them alone. 7They brought the colt to Jesus, spread their coats on it, and he mounted.

8The people gave him a wonderful welcome, some throwing their coats on the street, others spreading out rushes they had cut in the fields. 9Running ahead and following after, they were calling out,

Hosanna!
Blessed is he who comes in God’s name!
10Blessed the coming kingdom of our father David!
Hosanna in highest heaven!

11He entered Jerusalem, then entered the Temple. He looked around, taking it all in. But by now it was late, so he went back to Bethany with the Twelve.

Psalm 118:1-2, 19-29
1Thank GOD because he’s good, because his love never quits.
2Tell the world, Israel,
“His love never quits.”

19Swing wide the city gates–the righteous gates!
I’ll walk right through and thank GOD!
20This Temple Gate belongs to GOD,
so the victors can enter and praise.

21Thank you for responding to me;
you’ve truly become my salvation!
22The stone the masons discarded as flawed
is now the capstone!
23This is GOD’s work.
We rub our eyes–we can hardly believe it!
24This is the very day GOD acted–
let’s celebrate and be festive!
25Salvation now, GOD. Salvation now!
Oh yes, GOD-a free and full life!

26Blessed are you who enter in GOD’s name–
from GOD’s house we bless you!
27GOD is God,
he has bathed us in light.
Festoon the shrine with garlands,
hang colored banners above the altar!
28You’re my God, and I thank you.
O my God, I lift high your praise.
29Thank GOD-he’s so good.
His love never quits!
